Moos and Meets

Well, that headline makes perfect sense to me! And, if you are a Blythe person or a Flickr person or a lover of Moo cards, then it probably does to you, too. If it doesn't, I'll try to get you up to speed. Moo cards are tiny little calling cards or business cards, about 1" x 3" that are made from portions of one's photos on Flickr. These cards are some of my Blythe photos. I also made some from photos of my artwork, and you can see those on my art blog. They're just fun little visual reminders, and you can have your email, blog address, Web site, etsy shop or Flickr name printed on the back. Then you swap them with other peeps, or enclose them with sales or whatever you want to do. Heck, you may even keep all 100 for yourself. One hundred different pics/cards for $19.99 isn't bad.

The next photo is Lilly London herself in a turquoise eyelet dress made by Polly on Etsy and gifted to us by Maggie (momoko_girl_1 on Flickr) during a recent Blythe meet at Panera. Maggie, who had just put in a busy weekend as food service director at her local Ikea, during a meatball sale no less, came out to meet me, so we could chat about all things Blythe. She brought me some lovely dresses! And she showed me her beautiful custom, Georgia Peach (with the curly dakr hair and freckles in the middle photo). Maggie did this herself, and I am so impressed! I'm thinking about sending my Maggy off to her for some work.

Maggie also brought Floss (pink mohair) and Angela (red hair). Floss is a dream, like spun sugar! And Angela is so sweet- reminds me of Angela (Gemini Angel Art).

Rupa (anime_fan) came and brought Zoe and little gifties also. She is a customizer herself and has an enormous collection, just like Maggie and their "neighbor girls," Samara and Iveta.

Sounds like we're ALL going to BlytheCon 2o09 in Atlanta. Yay!

Arte du Blythe Seeking 'Charming' Blythe People for Charm Swap

My art & Blythe group on Yahoo! Arte du Blythe is currently having a charm swap, hosted by Miss Vicky of Cut-it-Up. Love French Pants Fashions!

Auntie Lindz or Ellewoods 2007 on Flickr and Blythe in America- she of the internationally-famous Blythe Opera- sent us this darling dress/top from French Pants on Etsy. I was not familiar with her style, but her smocked and embroidered fashions are darling! We received this dress along with a darling scrunchy pink wig and other goodies for the Blythe in America group Back-to-School Summer Fun swap. With everything going on, Lilly didn't get to try the dress on right away, so we wanted to send another extra special thanks to Lindsay and show off the dress.

Pink-Haired Girls Unite!

I received some pinky goodness in the mail today from the sweet Lindsey Taylor http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellewoods in our Blythe in America http://www.flickr.com/groups/blytheinamerica Back-to-School Summer Fun swap. As group administrator, I hosted the swap via Elfster http://www.elfster.com/, so "organized" is kind of a misleading term. Elfster has been getting rave reviews in the press as a Web site for organizing Secret Sister/Secret Santa-type swaps. Participant input their email address, and partners are assigned. Elfster handles the private sharing of addresses, favorites, wish lists, 'already haves,' etc., and players can also ask questions without revealing the surprise of which partner belongs to whom. So even though I hosted, I didn't know Linds 'had' me, even though I had her!

Maggy, above, is trying (and failing) to look cool in the great pink wig we received, as well as a darling dress made by French pants on etsy http://www.frenchpants.etsy.com/, other fun goodies, a purrfect card and a cute ponytail holder, which Maggy has converted to a tutu. Whatever makes your tutu twirl, right? Right! Thanks for a great swap!

Blythe Brings Out the Nicest People!

It has been awhile since I received these adorable pencil/charcoal sketches of (L-R) Lilly, Violet, Maggy and Jolene from the sweet Lindsey of ElleWoods2007 on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellewoods. Not only is she talented this way, but she is also an interior designer and a lover of her own B lythes, which she cleverly positions in her inimitable "Blythe Opera" series of photos, featuring the also inimitable Claudette, a Darling Diva in more ways than one. We've become swap friends, Blythe and Flickr and art friends, and hopefully, we will meet someday. Meanwhile, check out her great photos.

Fun Blythe Swappin' Happening Here

I'm hosting-or I should say coordinating- a fun Blythe goodies swap in honor of both summertime and back-to-school, since they seem to happen almost simultaneously these days. A Blythe Fat Book! What is a Fat Book, You Ask? Just Keep Reading! No Calories!

I found out today the lovely Shoshannah Jennings of Hannah Grey http://shop.hannahgrey.com/ promoted me to moderator of this Yahoo! Blythe group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Arte_du_Blythe/ she owns with Heather Simpson-Bluhm of http://boobyfish.blogspot.com/ and http://www.bluhmstudios.etsy.com/. These art gals share something in common, and that is a love for all things Blythe, along with their artistic talents. And they are not alone.

With more than 30 members in this group and some recent fresh faces, we hope to get a book put together of Blythe art by members. Typically, in a fat book everyone makes a set number of 4 x 4 inch pages front and page, then the pages are swapped out and bound or sent unbound to the recipients, who then have a book full of cool original artwork from all their artsy Blythe friends. It's total eye candy. Some of these same gals are active in The Artists of Chubbyville, also on Yahoo! Many fine fat books have been created by this group. Our Friends, Molli and Zelda

Here's a lovely picture of lindajed's Blythe girls, Molli (the brunette, a Prima Dolly Ebony) and Zelda (Star Dancer like Lilly), showing some of the Fashion Fever and Re-ment goodies my girls sent to them for our swap. I think we might have gotten it just about right, because this is exactly how we pictured her girls would divide up the stuff. We're secretly wondering if sometimes Molli sneaks in gets all gussied up and girly when she thinks no one's watching! Christmas presents, a new haircut and a closet!

The girls were so excited to receive these swap goodies from Lindajed and Molli and Zelda at http://adventuresofmolli.blogspot.com, our friends from Flickr. The Georgia girls and their mom were so kind to send coordinating fashions and little goodies, like coffee and scones from 'Panera'. Thanks so much to Linda and congrats on finishing your exams. Happy holiday time off to all of us!

Lilly immediately had to call all her friends on the new phone she received. She's also wearing her new leggings. Meanwhile, Maggy got all dressed up in the adorable sweater and skirt set, adding tights and shoes from Blythe dressing room. After zapping her latte and chocolate chip scone in the microwave, she promptly went out and got a haircut! She asked for the Posh Spice/Katie Holmes combo. I hope she likes it, because it's not going to grow back very fast. But, her long hair was unmanageable hanging below her knees, and it was either get it cut or get a Lounging Lovely! You know it's a bad hair day, when only a $150 sister can make it right. However, Maggy looks quite pleased and put her feet up when she got home from shopping and the salon.

The girls now have some storage in the form of a Re-ment closet and cabinet to better organize their stuff and to keep their shoes away from the cats! Wonder what's left for Santa to bring them?
