Saturday at Blythe Manor, From Groovy to Classic and Somewhere In Between

At top Virginia is feeling groovy in her reproduction vintage Becky emsemble with a yellow Barbie/Kayla bag that is too perfect 'fur' words. I might possibly have looked like this in the 70s. There was a period in sixth grade where I tried to dress like a cool hippie, but since I was 11, I probably just looked like your typical sixth grade nerd.
Below Virginia is Lilly, also a mini-me from the 70s. I did have long straight blond hair down-to-there, and I know I had a few fringed vests, and especially crocheted vests. Lilly is posing with her new 'Coach' bag from the talented Diana of La Boutique. Diana and her sister Janet have been doing haute doll fashions and Purse of the Month club for nearly five years to quench the designer hunger of fashion dolls everywhere. The detail and quality are just outstanding! On this Coach bag is a tiny authentic silver hangtag I saved from a recent Coach keyring of mine.
In the middle photo, Alice poses with La Boutique's Chanel shopper. Diana made it as a special order for me, and it even has a tiny Chanel wallet inside! Below Alice, Charlotte looks smashingly classic in her Plonsjeroze pink tweed set with a Juicy Couture bag from La Boutique. I was going to save that purse for my lavender-haired factory girl who should be here any day, but I just couldn't wait to show off this purse!
And lastly but not leastly, Buffy (yup, that's the name I decided upon) wears a darling garden party dress loaned to us by Auntie Iveta along with 'holy-grail-status' maryjanes and a Kate Spade or Coach style wicker purse. Do these girls have expensive taste or what? To answer that, look again at the top photo and Virginia's so-what?-had-to-have-it expression.

Spring Fever? Or, Fashion Fever?

I didn't get a chance to give credit where credit is due in yesterday's post, so this gives me an excuse to upload some more photos of the girlz before I "have to" change their outfits again. Jane, top, shows off the halter maxi made just for us by Libby of Pistachio Libby. She has done a ton of fantastic things for us. Check out her Etsy and Flickr.

Also in a halter dress, this one by Mallory of I_Love_George, the ever-photogenic Daisy is wearing a crochet shrug that is actually a "thingy" from IKEA. There's just no other word for it. In the fabric section IKEA sells a package of five multi-color crochet motifs that you can stitch to a throw pillow or whatever. Or, make a Blythe shrug.

Alice Snow is in the cherry print T-shirt wrap dress, which turned out to be a nice surprise. Not only is it perfect with her eyes, but it fits great. I thought it was a Barbie dress that would be too big. Now I'm not sure what it is, but I like it.

Molly is in a babydoll top or mini dress, also by Pistachio Libby. Her sash is crooked; that's my fault. I added some random capri tights and hi-top Chucks, and I like the result. I hate when that happens! Everytime I come up with a cute outfit, that just means more dolly stuff I don't want to part with! Much more fun to sell and move on.

Lilly, bottom, ended up with the Barbie Jonathan Adler dress only because I wanted the end tables and lamps. I got one set on Ebay without the doll, which was fine, but then I happened on another set at Tuesday Mornings that was too cheap to pass up, and it included the doll. Lilly wears it well, I think.

Lilly is my fashionista, whereas Molly, Daisy, Bunny, Jane and Alice are "cute" to me. Maggy is sort of in limbo due to face and body problems. "Pookie," to be renamed Joey, is off for an overhaul (disaster story forthcoming), Zena also has a little problem, but would probably fall into the cute category. I don't know how to describe Virginia with her mass of orange-ish red mohair, but I love her look, and Charlotte, the Urban Cowgirl, has beautiful hair, skin, and I'm happy with her eyechips, but I can't seem to get one good picture of her and haven't figured out what her style is yet.

Blizzard Boredom is Blythe Bonanza

What else is there to do in 30" of snow besides play dolls, right? Well, some might beg to differ. But hey. I dug out some albums (LPs, records, vinyl) for this shoot. That's "music" to you youngsters. Bunny looked smashing for the Rolling Stones "cover" in turquoise and green while Lilly matched the Go Go's and Daisy went with The Beach Boys.

Meanwhile, Lilly, Zena and Alice (from left) put on their best Fairy Tale duds to duke it out in the Alice and Snow wars. No pun intended, even if my newest is named Alice Snow, and we have a great Snow White dress for Blythe with OMG red vinyl boots from TIB shop, and even if it won't stop snowing where I am (27.9" so far).

Daisy's MOD Mondrian-art dress is from the TIB shop along with her tights. The boots are vintage Barbie. Maggy wears a ladybug dress and "Converse" from TIB with a ladybug hat by Creative Blythe, and Lilly wears vintage Skipper in the Go Go's photo. And I thought just Superbowl Sunday would be a good Blythe day!

We're Feeling Spring-y at Blythe Manor

Just a quicky post to say we love all our new fashions from Louos of Singapore. Louos swears on TIB http://www.thisisblythe.com that he has elves working in sweatshops, but we think it's just HIM and his incredible talent. The girls got "Louos Loves Elephants," a pink hoodie with striped thigh highs, contrast stripe short sleeve T, solid skirt and matching headband as well as an awesome tote. Oh so fun to be a size 00000000.
It's also fun to put and place the various muebles all over the house and to mix and match our vintage Barbie finds, etc. My latest is a Bratz 70's egg chair. It looks quite groovy, baby, but I can't decide if I like it or not. My other find, or maybe I should say "finding," is that if I go to out-of-the-way little discount stores, not Dollar Stores but just weird little mom-n-pop-like variety stores, I can find old Barbie stuff on the shelves that is somehow both cheap and perfect.
